Not so long ago -actually only three weeks ago-, the weather was still decent enough to go around without 3 layers over. Longing for summer already but since I still haven’t managed a way to successfully stop time, I will have to embrace the Winter equally. I just wanted to show you my new bag, which I have been daydreaming of for almost two years.
Contrary to popular belief, I am not actually a shopaholic. I always think about it 100 times before buying something and I ALWAYS need to make sure that I love something before I even consider buying it. I guess its something that came with experience and the fact that I have an overflowing closet due to my job, but in recent years, I have become quite careful when it comes to shopping.
Designer items are cool, but I don’t normally splurge unless I really want a bag or a specific pair of shoes -still, it takes me many months before I actually get it-. Designer clothes is where I sometimes draw the line and the reason is because I learnt that they’re not really a good investment -at least not as good as a bag or a pair of designer shoes-. Designer clothes tend to be very seasonal and trend focus which already limits the amount of times you can wear it, also because of my job, I always try to keep things interesting for you and most of all, I try to style my looks with affordable brands to keep looks more realistic and attainable.
Do you splurge on designer clothes? Or do you prefer to base your looks on the high street and invest on a cool bag or shoes every now and then?

Cute outfit Andy! I spend more on handbags and shoes. I only own a few designer clothing pieces because they were pretty unique. I think handbags and shoes can elevate an outfit and definitely last longer.

To answer your question, definitely, the latter. I almost never splurge on designer clothes. Not that I’m vehemently against it but I just don’t see why I should when there’s plenty more affordable, well-made, sustainable clothes out there. It’s nice to splurge every once in a while so like you, I’d rather do that on something that will last long like a bag or shoes.

I completely agree with you. This is one of the reasons why I LOVE buying vintage clothes. Actually, for the people that have their eye set on designers clothes, there are a lot of vintage shops out there where you can get designer items but for a fraction of a price! I will make a post about this soon :)

As an alternative fashion lover, I do splurge sometimes on brand/designer items. The situation, though, is not the same: in this case the clothes are quite atemporal, no matter the pattern or the construction, even if trends are still there. What is more, I don’t usually invest on shoes/bags unless they are high quality items, as they tend to suffer the most when worn and used.
Buuuut… I get your point, and if I had to invest on one designer item, it would be a nice, sturdy bag with a classic design :)

I completely see what you mean, for example, Margiela pieces are usually quite atemporal and you can wear them for years, just reinventing the styling. One of the few (perhaps only pieces) I do look at sometimes in the Designer department are blazers, but I have found SO MANY amazing vintage designer blazers for a fraction of the price. Luckily we have a lot of store to browse for this nowadays!

I definitely do not have enough money to buy designer clothes, but if I considered buying a designer piece, I probably would get something that never goes out of style. Most often it’s indeed a handbag!
