FACING FEARS

Getting a tattoo is not everyones cup of tea. I remember the first time the thought of getting one occurred to me years ago, my mom was NOT impressed, I can tell you that. The thing is, I am terrified of needles so that was mental block #1, then I wasn’t sure what I wanted to get and there was NO CHANCE I would permanently tattoo something in my body without being 100% certain of what I wanted.
As the years went by, my desire of getting one grew and I was finally narrowing it down. I finally have decided what I wanted, a word on the right side of my ribs and this word was so important and powerful to me that I was almost 100% convinced, but now I had to overcome mental block #1, my extreme fear of needles.
I have been lingering on this though for years and for the last few months it only grew stronger. Yesterday, I finally grew some …. and got it done, FINALLY!
The tattoo is something in my own hand writing and every time I look down at it and remember I have it on my body, it makes me so happy! So I guess it did the trick 100%.
Overcoming a fear is something so incredibly powerful and its not only the happiness of finally getting what I wanted on my body, but the fact that I was brave enough to go through with it.
I cant wait to show you!

  5. I've been wanting a tattoo for perhaps a year now. But I think I'll wait one more to see if I'm really sure! ;D Or I'll do it really spontaneously and regret it ha ha! Never regret! 7. Would love to get a tattoo but have no idea of what to get at the moment.Carina xxhttp://www.carstina.com/

  8. Congrats Andy! I too am terrified of needles, but wanted a tattoo. Same story as yours, my desire grew over the years until I just finally did it. A year later, I don't regret it one bit. I love my tattoo, and it means so much to me. I'm already thinking about a possible #2. :-)Again, congrats! Susi from Los Angeles

  9. What did you get?? So excited to see the tatto… i really want to get one but have no idea what image or words I can be committed to forever! :Ohttp://newbornfanatic.wordpress.com/

  10. Can't wait to see your new tattoo! I don't have one yet, but I'm thinking of getting one in the future. Something small and probably also a word.

Felicidades, Andy.

  12. I feel the exact same! I'm so afraid of doing it, but I kinda want one and have for years. I just haven't decided what yet… so I'm waiting as I also wanna be pretty sure it's something I'm going to be happy with. Can't wait to see yours!!/Anne

  13. I've wanted a tattoo since I was 15, and what I wanted to get inked on my body is still the same thing now at 40 as it was at 15. But like you I suffer from a dreadful fear of needles – dunno how I got through my pregnancy – and a very low resistence to pain, verging on the non existing. SO here I am, still tattooless, eheh.

  14. It's very important to get over your fears esp when it comes to tattoos coz I love them! :) I have 2 of them, and I know the excitement! :)http://modachronicless.wordpress.com/

  15. It was the same for me ! But one day I woke up and I was sure of what I wanted. I tattoed "Believe" in my neck because: 1) To believe is a philosophy that goes trough time so I will always love the meaning of it 2) In the neck so i won't see it but still, it is part of me …Can't wait to see what you did!Eva.

  16. Great to see that you faced your fears and got what you wanted for so long! And also great to see you went to the best tattooshop in Amsterdam :))

  17. I feel the same way! Sometimes I feel like the last person on earth without a Tattoo but I have the same fears that you did. I want one but wonder if I'll want it in twenty or even ten years! good for you for facing your fears!!www.ruthhanvey.com

  19. I was exactly the same but as I got older I realised that my opinion wouldn't change of my chosen tattoo (s) as my attitude wouldn't really change from who I am now. Excited to see it!x

  20. I also really want a tattoo i'm thinking about the words : Explore. Dream. Discover. They fit me perfect but my mom doesn't approve it and i do respect her opinion.fashionate

  21. Congrats on your first piece of ink! Once you start you can't stop, well I can't anyway. Tattoos, for me, are deeply personal. All mine have a significant meaning to me, one that might not be easily recognisable to anyone else but that doesn't bother me. The important thing is loving, every day always, whatever you put on your body. And it sounds like you do!xx

  22. Wow, well done on overcoming your fear! I'm currently trying to build myself up to get a tattoo on my foot but I'm so concerned about bursting into tears if it's sore and looking stupid in front of them haha xxD Is For…
