WEDDING DIARIES: MY WEDDING MOOD BOARD

The countdown to our Autumn wedding is officially on and I have to admit that it’s been a little difficult to get into the wedding mood considering we have been going in and out of lockdowns for months. Everything in Amsterdam is still closed and we haven’t been able to go to Mexico to meet with Joshua Vital (our wedding planner) at all because of the travel restrictions. You guys know that I am Mexican -and if you didn’t , now you do :P-, so obviously I NEEDED to get marry in my homeland. Even though my fiancé is Dutch, we decided it was the best decision to marry in Mexico instead of Holland for many reasons including the fact that my family is MUCH larger, the weather is much better, the streets are more colourful, etc. Besides, non of his family and friends have ever been to Mexico, so I think it will be the perfect opportunity to introduce them to my beautiful culture and I am sure they will love everything about it!

Covid hasn’t made things easy and we have had to re-schedule and downsize our guest list a lot, which makes me sad but in order to still have our wedding, we need to keep things safe for us and our guests too

Anyway, I thought it was about time to allow myself to enjoy this process and I wanted to give you a peek inside my head on what is my inspiration mood board for the wedding. Joshua is working with us on making ideas come to life and I can’t wait to see the final proposal for the wedding decor. In the meantime, here is all my inspo for our Autumn wedding :)

We are marrying at a ranch in the Mexican countryside and our wedding is going to have a relatively small guest list because of Covid downsizing, which means only family and super close friends will be there. I LOVE the idea of having hundreds of lights instead of a tent or roof covered in flowers like most of the inspo I have seen. Lights is more my thing.
Adding Mexican artisan details is super important to me. I want to incorporate Dutch details as well but I couldn’t find any inspo on that. Maybe we’ll get some Dutch blue pottery (From Delft) to represent my Fiances heritage and add it to the tables as well. It would match well with the Mexican details.
We OBVIOUSLY need to have a Mariachi.
My best friend Marce is making our wedding cake. My inspo is very minimalistic and chic. Probably chocolate flavoured inside since that’s what Arno and I love.
This photo was my primary inspo for the wedding. I love everything about this to be honest. I love the details on the chairs, the colourful flowers, the lace table runner, the metal details mixed with the wood and the blue wine glasses + candles. Everything is just so exquisite.
We NEED to have a photo moment, not only for us but for our guests to. I think a neon sign is such a cool idea and I’m already thinking of ideas of what our sign will say. We don’t want anything cheesy tho, so brainstorming will be necessary haha.
This is another variant on the cake inspo. I love the white with a touch of coloured flowers but I still need to see the final design from Joshua, so I can work on the cake idea with my friend Marce.
Still trying to find the perfect wedding invites. Since our guests are basically scattered over the world, we might have to do some here (Amsterdam) and different ones in Mexico. We are also working on a Wedding Website with She Said Web, who are creating a digital space for our guests.
Like I said, lights everywhere is really my dream but we have to see if thats possible.

It’s still a work in progress but I really want to create a beautiful wedding that lives and breathes Mexico.

Stay tuned for more wedding prep updates! Which reminds me to ask you; What else do you want to see in regards to the wedding?

Xx

Queremos saber (jajaja): wedding dress, bachelorette party, how many times (per wk? per month?) you had virtual meetings with Joshua, you will have religious wedding too?
Also, I think we never had a chance to hear the full proposal story?

  12. So, are you going to risk the rain factor? I know it doesn’t rain so much during autumn there, at El Bajío, but I would be terrified with the prospect of rain :D So, just wondering if you’ll have a plan B. I love that you’re thinking so much about Mexican details without going cliché :)

    1. I think my wedding planner must be thinking of the rain factor for sure. I hope we dont get rain tho, we’re escaping Holland for that hahaha

  13. From your photos I can already imagine a beautiful and moving cerimony!
One of my dearest friends is half mexican so I’ve learned a lot about your culture, she was supposed to take me to Mexico past summer but you know, Covid happened.
We were roommates in uni and with her presents first and also my own shopping than I can say I have some mexican influence in my home decor so I really can’t wait to see your wedding!!

    1. Thats so cool to hear! I actually know a lot of people that once they go to Mexico, they completely fall in love so I hope you get to go one day to visit babe! <3
