Denim on denim is one of those styling classics that if done well, it can be a total hit but if styled wrongly, it can definitely be a total miss.
I don’t have THE “rules” on how to style denim on denim, but I do have my own personal rule on how I do it which is try to match the denim shade as much as possible. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same shade but I always try to match it as much as I can. Another thing I try to avoid and that’s just out of personal preference is wearing denim that is too light (I really hate that), meaning I never wear denim that its too light and definitely don’t mix light + dark denim.
