First things first; I am sure a lot of you have never heard of a callejoneada, so let me try to explain what it is. In the magical town of San Miguel de Allende, they have this beautiful tradition of parading around the small cobblestone streets -either the day before a wedding or just after the wedding ceremony- with your wedding guests, a traditional Mexican band and these huge dolls that represent the bride and the groom called Mojigangas.

The moment we decided to get married in San Miguel de Allende I knew I wanted to have a callejoneada. I have never been to one before as a guest but I have seen them around San Miguel and the happiness and high energy was so contagious, I knew that both our Mexican and Dutch guests would enjoy it.

The experience was everything I imagined and more. Our Dutch guests were absolutely fascinated by the whole experience and my family and Mexican friends -who are more used to our traditions-, had the time of their life, laughing, dancing and sharing this amazing moment with us.

I am so happy to share with you some of the photos I received yesterday and I am hoping I get more that show all of our guests having the time of our lives. in the meantime, have an amazing day and see you here soon!

  2. ¡Hello!
