MIDSOMMAR

The Swedish seaside is no Miami or the Caribbean, the sea is not turquoise blue and there are no palm trees in sight but for some reason, I find it equally captivating in a very different way. I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that its incredibly peaceful and quiet, its only you and nobody else in sight. I am not used to that and finding myself in the middle of nowhere is quite a surreal experience that freaked me out a little at first, but I am starting to enjoy the slight solitude, just in time to go back home…
These flower crowns are typical for the “Midsommar” celebrations in Sweden and since I lacked mine last year, I HAD to make one this year. When in Sweden, do as Swedes do ;)

  6. For me, the nordic seaside is much more calming and beautiful than this turqoise-water-beach (which isn’t ugly, of course!!!). These nordic waters are way more real. They seem true and interesting, they have a story.

    I also love your laid-back outfit. + the flower chain is stunning!

  9. I’m from Estonia and we have that tradition too.. plus jumping over the campfire. I haven’t done either for a very very long time now, so maybe I’ll plan it for next year?
    Also, our sea looks the same and has the exact calming niceness to it, so next time you’re in Sweden, pop by Estonia too?

  21. Estás preciosa con esa corona de flores Andy. La playa me gusta mucho más que otra cualquiera en Miami. En Catalunya tenemos la suerte de tener unas playas parecidas, con muy poca gente (por no decir con nadie) con rocas y mar transparente… date una vuelta cuando puedas.

  46. LOVELY floral crown. I too am not used to uncrowded beaches…I come from New Jersey, home of the infamous Jersey Shore, after all! But I’ve been to a few on the islands of hawaii that are empty, and I love it. Enjoy Sweden while it lasts!

  93. Sea is one of the most beautiful things on this earth, whatever the form, the colour, the place, the mood…I miss it so much here in Brussels, coming from a sea country myself!
